What to expect... Assessment Your initial consultation involves a comprehensive medical history and examination. The primary objective of this session is to identify the nature of your complaint, so that a logical and effective treatment plan can be implemented. At times, further tests may be required such as x-rays, blood tests or CT scans to help identify the exact nature of your complaint. Explanation of your problem Brett believes that you understanding the nature of your problem is a key factor in resolving it. Therefore he will explain the causes and treatment he suggests, in plain English. Treatment Taking into account your needs and expectations, Brett will adopt the treatment that will provide the best match for your situation. This treatment may include acupuncture, massage, joint mobilisation, herbal medicine or rehabilitation exercise program. Advice and preventative care Brett will give you advice on how you can manage your problem and help prevent it from recurring. This may include explaining and demonstrating techniques, exercises and adjustments needed in your everyday life e.g. modifying your work desk, chair or car seat to reduce neck or back pain. Brett believes prevention is better than cure. Once you are well, monthly treatments can help you stay well. This may take the form of hands-on stretching, joint mobilisation and massage or acupuncture to maintain internal balance and wellbeing. Brett is registered under the Chinese Medicine Registration Board of Victoria (CMRB) as an acupuncturist and Chinese herbal medicine practitioner.
